Oh my friends, my heart is so full. It’s been a year since this post, about pushing my investment advisors to “humor me” by centering my portfolio on my values rather than pure profit. I had my first annual investment performance check-in today, and I learned two crucial things:
- The values-centered portfolio they created for me is outperforming their traditional portfolio benchmark. (Okay, I didn’t really learn that from our conversation – I already knew it’s a myth that ESG investments don’t do as well! Still, nice to see it confirmed.)
- Because of what they learned in my case… they’re now proactively offering ESG strategies to everyone they work with. Half of the families that have joined their practice over the past year have chosen that path, and offering ESG options is becoming part of their standard operating procedure for investment strategy deep-dives with all clients.
I have no idea how much money that client base represents. But… it’s way more than the Monopoly money I’m playing with. And now it’s moving away from “investments” that impoverish us all, and towards positive impact that oh-by-the-way is actually a BETTER INVESTMENT.
I’m so grateful to these wonderful people for being true partners in a learning process. Ping me if you wanna connect with them, okay? 10/10 would recommend. ❤️❤️❤️
